The world of online roulette is evolving, and one of the most exciting developments for American players is the introduction of announced bets. This feature, long a staple of European roulette tables, is now available at leading US-facing online casinos, allowing players to place complex, multi-number wagers with a single click. For those who have ever felt limited by the standard inside and outside bets, announced bets open up a fresh layer of strategy and excitement.
Announced bets, also known as call bets or French bets, cover specific sections of the roulette wheel rather than the layout. They include wagers like Voisins du Zéro, Tiers du Cylindre, Orphelins, and Neighbors. While these bets have been popular in brick-and-mortar casinos in Las Vegas and Atlantic City for years, the online transition has been slower. Now, with improved software and player demand, US operators are rolling out the feature, giving players the chance to experience the same depth of betting that European high rollers have enjoyed for decades.
What are announced bets and why do they matter?
Announced bets are predefined combinations of numbers that cover specific arcs of the roulette wheel. Instead of placing multiple individual chips on separate numbers, you choose one announced bet, and the software automatically distributes your stake across the correct positions. For example, the Voisins du Zéro covers the 17 numbers around the zero, while the Tiers du Cylindre covers the 12 numbers opposite the zero.
For American players, this is particularly valuable because it reduces the time spent managing chips and eliminates the risk of misplacing a bet. In a live dealer setting, where the pace can be fast, announced bets keep you in the action without fumbling with the interface. Moreover, these bets are deeply rooted in roulette strategy, allowing experienced players to implement systems that target specific wheel sectors.
For those new to the format, online live dealer roulette offers an intuitive way to stay engaged without the learning curve of manual betting. By relying on voice or click-to-call commands, you can focus entirely on strategy and the spin of the wheel. How announced bets work at our casino
At our casino, we have integrated announced bets directly into the roulette lobby. When you select a roulette table – whether it’s American, European, or French – you will see a dedicated panel for announced bets. Simply choose from options like Voisins, Tiers, Orphelins, or Neighbors, enter your stake, and confirm. The system calculates the exact chip distribution and places the bet instantly.
For instance, a $10 Voisins du Zéro bet will be split into nine chips on the zero pocket and two chips on neighboring splits, all handled automatically. This means you can focus on the spin rather than the math. The feature is available on both desktop and mobile, so whether you are playing from your home in Chicago or on the go in Los Angeles, the experience remains seamless.
Such streamlined betting systems minimize costly mistakes, as highlighted in a recent Hill report. Players can then enjoy a more relaxed experience, knowing the math is handled flawlessly.
Traditional roulette compared to announced bets
To help you understand the differences, here is a quick comparison of standard inside/outside bets versus announced bets.
| Aspect | Standard Bets | Announced Bets |
|---|---|---|
| Coverage | Single numbers, splits, streets, corners, dozens, columns | Specific wheel sections (e.g., 17 numbers around zero) |
| Placement | Manual chip placement on layout | One-click selection, automatic distribution |
| Strategy | Simple or complex, but requires multiple clicks | Built-in sector strategies, ideal for systems |
| Popularity | Universal among all players | Favored by experienced and European-style players |
| Availability | All roulette variants | Mostly European/French, now expanding in US online |
Another useful comparison is between the different announced bets themselves.
| Bet Name | Numbers Covered | Typical Wheel Section |
|---|---|---|
| Voisins du Zéro | 17 numbers (22, 18, 29, 7, 28, 12, 35, 3, 26, 0, 32, 15, 19, 4, 21, 2, 25) | Arc around zero |
| Tiers du Cylindre | 12 numbers (27, 13, 36, 11, 30, 8, 23, 10, 5, 24, 16, 33) | Opposite side of wheel |
| Orphelins | 8 numbers (1, 20, 14, 31, 9, 17, 6, 34) | Two small gaps between Voisins and Tiers |
| Neighbors | Any number plus its two neighbors on each side | Customizable around a chosen number |
Why American players are embracing this feature
The US online casino market has matured rapidly. States like New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Michigan have led the way in offering diverse game libraries, and players have become more sophisticated. They are looking for the same depth of betting options found in land-based casinos on the Las Vegas Strip or in Atlantic City. Announced bets deliver that.
Additionally, many American players enjoy the social aspect of roulette. In live dealer games, announcing a Voisins bet can feel like a badge of experience. It signals that you understand the wheel beyond simple red or black. The online version retains that sense of mastery, while the software ensures accuracy.
Strategies for maximizing your announced bets experience
- Start with European or French roulette to benefit from the single-zero house edge.
- Use Voisins du Zéro when you want to cover a large portion of the wheel, especially if you believe the ball is landing near zero.
- Combine Tiers du Cylindre with outside bets like even-money wagers to balance risk.
- Experiment with Neighbors bets around your lucky number, but keep stakes moderate.
- Practice in free-play mode to learn how each bet distributes chips before playing for real money.
- Set a budget for announced bets separately from your standard betting, as they can use more chips per spin.
- Watch the wheel history to identify hot sectors, then apply announced bets targeting those arcs.
Real-money play and responsible gaming
While announced bets add excitement, it is important to approach them with the same discipline as any casino game. The house edge remains the same as standard roulette – 2.7% for European and 5.26% for American double-zero wheels. The bets do not change the math; they simply offer a different way to cover the layout.
Our casino provides tools to help you stay in control, including deposit limits, session timers, and self-exclusion options. We encourage all players to treat announced bets as a fun strategic element, not a guaranteed way to win. The thrill comes from the spin, not from chasing losses.
The future of roulette announced bets online
As more US states regulate online gambling, the demand for advanced roulette features will only grow. Developers are already working on new announced bet variations tailored to American double-zero wheels, as well as integration with virtual reality tables. The goal is to replicate the full land-based experience while adding digital conveniences.
